Spirit of the St. Croix Days
October 15-18, 2008
The Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau presents the Spirit of the St. Croix Days, a community wide tourism event October 15-18, 2008 in Lakefront Park. The main emphasis of the festival will surround family and children in the events focused on the outdoors and the river way.
During the event we will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the St. Croix River becoming a National Scenic River Way. We are bringing Big Top Chautauqua to Lakefront Park for a free evening concert on Thursday, October 16, 2008. The Blue Canvas Orchestra led by Warren Nelson will perform Wild Woods & Waters - A Celebration of the St. Croix River. The program includes a wide range of original bluegrass & folk music and a large screen slide show as the backdrop for nine musicians.
Friday evening will be highlighted by Taste of Hudson — A Food, Wine, & Beer Experience. The event will feature a sampling of the best from Hudson area restaurants along with a selection of wines and craft beers from the region. Food samplings from the following Hudson Chamber restaurants will be highlighted: Afton House Inn, Barker's Bar & Grill, Hudson Golf Club, Mama Maria's Italian Ristorante, Paddy Ryan's Irish Pub, Pier 500, San Pedro Café, The NOVA, and Winzer Stube. $65 Tickets are available for purchase by the public at the Chamber office at 502 Second Street.

The Professional Walleye Trail (PWT) has chosen Hudson for its national year-end event to be held on the St. Croix River during the Spirit of the St. Croix Days. The Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau and the City of Hudson have partnered to bring this national event to Hudson. Community residents and area tourists will witness 120 fishing professionals who will compete during a four-day catch and release walleye fishing tournament. As a result of the PWT presence, Hudson and the St. Croix River Valley will be featured on national sporting channels throughout 2008 and 2009, as well as regional and national media publications as a place for tourism and fishing. The public will also be able to purchase tickets to the PWT year-end award banquet on Saturday evening for $25/person.

Family Fishing Clinic - 10-10:45 am - Sat. Oc. 18
"Learning to Dream Over a Bobber" Lakefront Park Bandshell, sponsored by Freedom Valu Centers. Frank Pilney, area Professional Angler, and other professionals ask children to bring their poles & their parents and learn tips & techniques to fish in the St. Croix Valley area. Drawings for fishing equipment will be given out following the clinic.
Raffle: Purchase your raffle tickets at the Information Booth during the Spirit of the St. Croix Days. Tickets are 1 for $5 or 3 for $10. Prizes include a Leinenkugel canoe, kayak, Leinenkugel Adirondack Chair, and gas grill. Drawing will be held Saturday evening during the PWT Banquet. Need not be present to win.
Free Parking & Free Shuttles on Friday & Saturday
Take advantage of the free parking sites in Hudson that will make it convenient to attend the festival. Shuttles run Friday, October 17 from 3pm to 10pm and Saturday, October 18 from 10am to 10pm. There are three pick up spots: The Wisconsin Welcome Center (off I-94 take Exit #2, on frontage road S of I-94), Plaza 94 Parking Lot (Coulee Road, Frontage road N of I-94), and Faith Community Church (Take Exit 2, N on Carmichael 1/4 mile on right). Look for corn stalks signifying the bus stop area in the lots. Shuttles will run approximately every 15-20 minutes and will drop riders off by The Phipps Center for the Arts by Lakefront Park, downtown Hudson.
