Friday evening kicks off the festival with a Torchlight parade with kazoo marching bands and more at 7:08 p.m. in downtown Hudson.
Moonglow or Field of Fire will be held Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. Bring your camera and watch as balloons light up the dark for about 1 hour.
The Marketplace & Craft Fair will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Additional activities include pancake breakfasts, geocaching, smoosh boarding, volleyball in the snow, dances and other winter activities.

28th Annual Golden Opportunity Gala February 13The Hudson Daybreak and Noon Rotary Clubs invite you to the 28th Annual Golden Opportunity Gala on Saturday February 13th 2010 at the Best Western Hudson House Inn, featuring performances by well known comedian Jeff Gerbino & Article XX.
Tickets are $75 per person. You and your guest will experience an evening of elegant dining and first class entertainment. Highlights include social hour and appetizers with strolling butlers, silent auction, raffle, 3 course dinner with musical entertainment from the Hudson High School band and choir. Finish off the evening dancing with your valentine to the live music of Article XX. This local band plays the hits of the 60's 70's and 80's.
The Best Western Hudson House Inn is also providing special rates on rooms for the evening. This fun-filled event is one of the Rotary's largest fundraising events of the year.

Conversations of the Valley February 23 "Why not Stillwater, Wisconsin?: Mapping Minnesota?
Dr. David Lanegran, professor of Geography at Macalester College, will use his most recent book, Minnesota on The Map: a Historical Atlas of Minnesota, as the basis of his talk focusing on the emergence of the State of Minnesota as depicted in 19th and 20th century cartography. He’ll talk about how the emerging science of geography and cartography shaped the image and ownership of the State. National, county, and state atlases, highway maps, and forms of popular cartography will help illustrate how a sense of place was created.
Dr. Lanegran served as the President and CEO of Minnesota Landmarks, the non-profit corporation that restored and manages Landmark Center. He served on the St. Paul City Planning Commission and was Chair and on the Board of Directors of several non-profit housing and community development corporations, including the St Paul Riverfront Commission. He has authored many books and articles and has appeared in several documentaries about the Twin Cities and the development of Minnesota, including as chief scholar in the production of the Emmy winning documentary “Iron Range: Minnesota Building America” in 2009.
The program will be Tuesday, February 23, 2010, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Grand Banquet Center located at 301 South 2nd Street in Stillwater. The cost of the lunch and program is $17 and must be paid in advance.
